Non-urgent appointments with a physician, nurse and physiotherapist take place at health centres.
On non-urgent appointments, ailments and symptoms that do not require urgent treatment are attended to, and follow-up and control visits necessary for long-term illnesses are carried out. The clinics employ physicians, nurses with expertise in public health, physiotherapists and social counsellors.
Nurses and physiotherapists assess the need for treatment, prepare patients for appointments, and carry out treatment according to treatment plans.
The nurse's office treats, among other things, the following:
- infectious diseases
- small cuts and burns
- vaccinations and medicinal injections
- health check-ups
A physician is responsible for the diagnosis and medical treatment. Things to be treated at a physician's office include, among others:
- new and serious symptoms of a disease
- sudden and significant worsening of a long-term illness
- various certificates (e.g. certificates for long-term sick leave, driving license certificates, statements for social benefits, medical reports)
- patients who have had an accident at work, in traffic, or on their free time.
Common illnesses to be treated at health centres include:
- diabetes, cardiovascular diseases
- chronic lung diseases
- asthma and allergies
- cancer
- memory disorders
- musculoskeletal diseases
- mental health issues.
In addition to basic clinical services, health centres also offer specialist examinations and walk-in services.
Specialised examinations conducted in health centres include, for example, various types of 24h monitoring (ECG, blood pressure), stress tests, imaging tests and sleep apnea tests.
Specialised examinations and clinical services are provided with a referral from a general practitioner.
